If there’s one thing we’re never short of in the online casino world, it’s Ancient Egyptian slots. But with Egyptian Warrior, Spinberry is trying to shake up the tombs by combining a 6×5 scatter-pays mechanic with a persistent collection feature.
I recently took this one for a spin to see how it holds up against the heavy hitters in the scatter-pays genre.
The Mechanics: Scatter Pays with a Snag
If you’ve played pay-anywhere slots before, you know the drill here. You need eight matching symbols anywhere on the 6×5 board to trigger a win. Winning symbols vanish, triggering a cascade (or tumble) that drops new symbols into the gaps to keep your streak alive.
However, Spinberry has made a slightly frustrating choice with the paytable. Payouts are locked into strict tiers: 8-9 symbols, 10-11 symbols, and 12+ symbols. This means if you land eight matching symbols, and a cascade drops a ninth, your payout doesn’t increase at all. You need to cross that 10-symbol threshold to see a bump in cash.
With no wild symbols to help bridge the gaps, you are relying entirely on raw symbol drops. The top base game hit is 50x your stake for 12+ Anubis symbols, but for the lowest-paying symbols, eight or nine of a kind returns less than your stake, and the weakest of them, J and Q, still fall short at ten and need twelve to clear the stake.
The Base Game: A Grind for the Grid
The base game here mostly exists to feed the bonus round.
To the side of the reels, you’ll notice a 30-segment collection matrix. Every time a red orb lands on the grid, it lights up the corresponding cell on the matrix. Fill all 30, and you trigger 10 Free Spins. The problem is that orbs only light up the exact position they land on. If an orb lands on a cell you’ve already lit, it does nothing.

During my session, the base game proved to be quite a grind. I managed to light up 18 segments relatively quickly over a few dozen spins, but because it’s entirely position-dependent, the final few cells can take a while. The base game can also run incredibly cold; I hit an 11-spin dead streak with zero payouts. Even when things connected, the returns were modest. My best base game hit was just 6.5x my stake after a lengthy cascade.

A quick tip: Your matrix progress is saved to your specific bet size. If you change your stake, you’ll leave your half-filled grid behind until you switch back.
The Bonus Round: A Multiplier That Keeps Climbing
Once you finally fill that matrix, the game shifts gears entirely. You get 10 Free Spins, the collection matrix deactivates (meaning no retriggers), and the game introduces a progressive cascade multiplier.
This is easily the best part of Egyptian Warrior. The multiplier starts at x1 and increases by +1 after every single winning cascade. The rules never mention a reset between spins, and on the board it carried its value from one free spin straight into the next.
A dead spin doesn’t knock it back down either; it simply waits for the next cascade. If a single spin triggers three back-to-back cascades, the multiplier climbs with every pop, applying the new value to the next drop. The entire potential of this slot hinges on this mechanic. You are praying for a big cluster of Anubis or Mummy symbols to drop on your 8th or 9th free spin, right when your multiplier has climbed into the high single digits.
The Math and The Market: A Tough Sell?
And frankly, this is where Egyptian Warrior takes a bit of a stumble.
Spinberry has set the RTP (Return to Player) at 93.23% for the base game, with the Feature Spin mode running even lower at 93.16%. (Keep in mind, operators can adjust this, so always check the paytable at your chosen casino).
In today’s market, a 93.23% RTP is undeniably low. To put it in perspective, Pragmatic Play’s Lucky Drums 88, another scatter-pays game built around collecting symbols, publishes an RTP of 96.53%. Even Spinberry’s own Top Multiplier slot offers 93.26% on a basic 3-reel setup. Furthermore, the max win is hard-capped at a flat 500,000 cash limit, regardless of your stake.
Egyptian Warrior is a game of two halves. The base game is a volatile, often unrewarding grind where you are just watching red orbs and hoping they land in the right spots. But once you get into the Free Spins, the non-resetting multiplier creates moments of genuine excitement and real potential.
