If you’re a fan of classic 3×3 slots but like a little modern flair thrown into the mix, Dragon of Fortune might just catch your eye. During my recent session, I found a game that leans heavily on stacked symbols, frequent small hits, and the elusive chase for a full-screen multiplier.
It’s not a game packed with complex mechanics or free spin rounds. Instead, it’s a straightforward grinder with a 4,500x max win that dangles just out of reach.
The Base Game: Stacks and Small Change
Dragon of Fortune plays out on a classic 3×3 grid with 5 fixed paylines. Right away, you’ll notice the paytable is incredibly top-heavy. The Dragon Wild is the undisputed star here, paying a solid 18x your stake for three of a kind. Everything else? Well, it’s mostly small change. The gold ingot pays 6x, while the four coin symbols that dominate the reels pay a meager 1x to 1.6x.
Because the lowest win just gives you your stake back, the base game hands out a lot of “push” spins. In my first hundred spins, I was hitting a winning line about 20% of the time, but the bulk of those were just single-coin lines paying 1x.

The saving grace is how the symbols land. The reels frequently drop fully stacked with matching symbols or Wilds. Landing a full stack of Wilds on reel one is your best friend here, during my session, a stack of Wilds connected a lantern and four coin lines for a quick 8x payout. It’s not retirement money, but it keeps the bankroll ticking over.
The “Near Miss” Respin
We’ve all been there: you land two matching reels, and the third reel completely blanks you. Dragon of Fortune actually throws you a lifeline when this happens.
If you land two fully stacked reels of the same symbol but don’t hit a winning line, the game triggers a free Re-Spin. The matching reels lock in place, and the third reel spins one more time. It’s a simple second chance, and while it doesn’t retrigger, it’s a great feature for salvaging dead spins.

It doesn’t always save the day: I watched two reels of red-tassel coins lock in, only for the third reel to drop useless red pouches. But when it hits, it feels great. In another spin, I held a Wild and two coin-pairs; the respin dropped a Wild right at the top of reel one, completing two lines for a 2.4x return. It turns a frustrating near-miss into a small victory.
The Wheel of Fortune: Where the Real Money Hides
There are no traditional free spins here. The only bonus feature is the Wheel of Fortune, which triggers when you manage to land a full 3×3 screen of the same symbol (Wilds count toward this).
Because a full screen guarantees all five paylines win, you already have a guaranteed base payout. The game then spins a multiplier wheel to boost that win. The wheel features multipliers ranging from x2 to x12, plus three Jackpots: a Mini (x15), Major (x25), and Grand (x50).
It’s important to note that the wheel’s actual cash value depends entirely on what symbol triggered it. A full screen of lowest-paying coins pays 5x, meaning the wheel is multiplying that 5x base. During my playthrough, I managed to fill the grid with seven coin-pairs and two Wilds. The base payout was 6x, the wheel landed on a rather stingy x2, and I walked away with 12x my bet.
If you’re familiar with the industry, you’ve seen this before. Evoplay’s own Winter Hot Sevens, due in November, simply doubles your payout for a full screen (capping the game at 160x). Dragon of Fortune takes that same concept but uses the wheel to stretch the volatility, pushing the potential up to that 4,500x max win. Popok Gaming’s Ronaldinho Da Sorte does something similar, but builds it into a dedicated hold-and-win mode. Here, you have to hit the full screen in the base game, relying only on the occasional Re-Spin to help you get there.
Chasing the Grand
A quick word of warning regarding the jackpots: they aren’t fixed cash prizes based on your bet. They are strictly multipliers applied to your board’s total line win. Hitting the x50 Grand segment on a board of cheap coins is worth 250x. Hitting it on a board of gold ingots? Now you’re talking 1,500x.
So, how do you actually hit the advertised 4,500x max win? You’re going to need a miracle. You have to land a full 3×3 screen of Dragon Wilds (which pays 90x across the five lines) AND have the wheel land on the 50x Grand segment.
Dragon of Fortune is a fair, well-designed slot. The Re-spin feature takes the sting out of near-misses, but high-volatility thrill-seekers might find the base game payouts a bit too light for their liking.
