Piggy Bank: Coinstorm Review – A Brutal Grind with a 10,000x Silver Lining

Piggy Bank: Coinstorm is the third release in Evoplay’s Piggy Bank series, and thankfully, it’s not just a copy-paste of the first two games with a new paint job. But fair warning: Evoplay stripped this one down to a tiny 3×3 grid with just 5 paylines, and the setup can be incredibly punishing.

Basically, the entire game revolves around a massive, frustrating bottleneck.

The Base Game Grind

As you spin, you’ll see juicy coins drop on the outer reels. Some are worth a few bucks (1x to 15x your bet), while others carry fixed jackpots up to 1,000x. But here’s the catch: on their own, they are completely worthless.

To actually collect that money, you need a Blue Orb to land dead-center on reel two on that exact same spin. Because the orb only appears on the middle reel, you are going to see a constant, agonizing stream of dead coins. Seeing a huge coin land right next to a wild is useless because the wild doesn’t substitute for a coin, and without the orb, you get nothing.

The game does have a random “rescue” feature called Collector Magic, which is supposed to trigger the bonus if an orb lands on an otherwise empty board. Don’t hold your breath, though. It rarely happens, and even a pitiful cherry win (the lowest on the paytable) cancels the rescue feature entirely. Because of this, the base game is mostly a slow drain on your balance, broken up by occasional pocket change.

The “Cheap” Bonus Buy Trap

Evoplay clearly knows the base game is a slog, because they priced the Bonus Buy at a surprisingly cheap 38x your bet. (It also gives you a slightly better RTP of 96.27% compared to the base game’s 96.09%).

Pay the 38x, and you’re guaranteed a trigger: an orb in the middle, a coin on each side, and 3 resetting respins. During the bonus, normal symbols vanish, leaving only coins, orbs, and blanks. Multipliers (1x to 5x) hover above the outer reels and boost any coins that land under them. The orb just sits there, vacuuming up the cash, and pays you out when you run out of spins.

But here is the reality of the bonus round: there are a lot of blanks. If you only have one orb, the bonus usually bleeds out fast. It’s very common to buy the feature and scrape back maybe a quarter of what you paid.

How You Actually Win Big

To make any real money, you absolutely have to lock a second orb into the middle reel. Once you do, the math goes crazy.

If a coin lands under a 2x multiplier, it gets doubled, and then both orbs collect it. This double-dipping mechanic is the only reason the game’s massive 10,000x max win is actually possible. Similar 3-reel “collect” games usually cap out at a modest 2,000x, but because you can collect those 1,000x jackpots with multiple orbs at the same time, Coinstorm’s ceiling is huge.

The Verdict

Reaching that max win requires a total miracle of resets and extra orbs. Even if you land a second orb early, you can still walk away with less than your 38x buy-in.

Coinstorm is a highly volatile, ruthless little slot hiding behind a cheap entry price. It’s definitely entertaining when it goes off, but be prepared: you need that second orb just to survive.
