At first glance, Zillion Games’ Train of Fortune looks like just another classic fruit slot, but under the hood, it’s hiding a highly volatile engine. Built on an unusual 3-5-3 grid with 45 ways to win, this game ditches traditional paylines and standard multipliers in favor of a unique “stacking collector” mechanic.
While the bonus round offers some genuine thrills and a solid 5,615x max win, getting there can be a bit of a grind. The RTP is a single 96%, with no other version offered.
A Quirky Grid and a Brutal Base Game
Because the game only has three reels, you need a full three-of-a-kind match across the board to trigger any base-game payout. The outer reels hold three symbols, but the middle reel holds five. This means your “ways to win” multiplier is dictated entirely by how many matching symbols land in that central column.
The paytable is incredibly top-heavy. Golden Train wilds pay 15x your bet, but payouts drop off a cliff from there, going all the way down to 0.5x for cherries.
To be completely fair, the base game can be a slog. The game relies on a Cash Collect mechanic (Coins on reels 1 and 3, a BOOST symbol on reel 2). Because these symbols don’t pay anything on their own in the base game, they act as blockers. During my session, I hit several dry spells, including a long 20-spin stretch of dead spins, where coins and BOOSTs landed just enough to block fruit combinations, but not enough to trigger the bonus. With no wild multipliers or base-game modifiers to keep things interesting, standard spins feel quite thin.

Triggering the Feature (and the 69x Buy-In)
To get to the bonus, you need at least one Bonus Coin on reel 1, a BOOST symbol on reel 2, and another Bonus Coin on reel 3. The game does have a random trigger feature that can save you if you only land one or two of the required symbols, though Zillion hasn’t published the hit rate for this, so it feels like a rare lucky break rather than a reliable mechanic.
If you don’t have the patience for the base game, there is a Bonus Buy option priced at a very reasonable 69x your stake. Given how quiet the base game is, this will likely be the preferred route for a lot of players.
The Respins Bonus and Its Stacking Collectors
The Respins Bonus is where Train of Fortune finally shows its teeth. It’s a standard 3-spin Hold & Win feature, but with a brilliant twist.
The fruit symbols are stripped away, leaving only blanks, Coins (worth 1x to 10x, plus four Jackpots up to a 1,000x GRAND), and BOOST symbols. The BOOST symbol that triggered the round locks into place on the middle reel.
There are no standard multipliers in this bonus. Instead, the multiplier effect comes from landing more BOOST symbols on that 5-row middle reel.
- Every BOOST on the board collects the value of every Coin that lands.
- If you manage to lock two BOOSTs on the middle reel, every Coin is collected twice (effectively a 2x multiplier).
- Lock three or four BOOSTs, and a standard 5x coin suddenly pays 15x or 20x.

BF Games’ Magnet Mania, due in November, has a similar double-collect idea, but its collectors don’t stick. Here, they do. If you manage to stack three BOOSTs early in the feature and then land the 1,000x GRAND Jackpot coin, all three BOOSTs will collect it, paying out 3,000x in a single spin.
However, the math model in the Respins Bonus is genuinely exciting. The overlapping collection mechanic turns a standard Hold & Win feature into something highly volatile and full of potential. If you can stomach a bumpy base game, or if you’re a fan of reasonably priced Bonus Buys, chasing those sticky middle-reel collectors is definitely worth the ticket.
