If you’ve spent any time spinning modern slots, you know the Hold & Win genre is incredibly crowded. To stand out, providers have to offer a twist. With Gold of Diwali Hold and Win, Onlyplay has leaned heavily into the “modifier accumulation” mechanic.

Set against a beautifully lit backdrop of paper lanterns and glowing domes, this 5×3, 5-payline release is built around one singular goal: dragging as many modifiers as humanly possible into the bonus round.

What the bonus pays depends on which pots open it. The RTP is 95.5%.

The Base Game

You are not playing this slot for base game hits.

Hitting three-of-a-kind of any lower-tier symbol (or even the mid-tier theme symbols) simply returns your exact stake. Short lines are break-even spins that just keep your head above water. Only the Elephant (2x) and the Lotus Wild (3x) pay more than that for three; for the rest you need four-of-a-kind, which pays 5x on the theme symbols, while four Elephants pay 10x. The top pay in the base game is landing five Lotus Wilds across a line, which pays 50x your bet.

While you’re spinning, you’ll notice colored coins landing with values like 3x or 5x. Frustratingly, these pay nothing in the base game. Their only job is to fly up and feed the three pots sitting above the reels.

The Three Pots (And a Warning on Visual Meters)

This game uses the popular “three pot” mechanic. The red EXTRA pot, the blue DOUBLE pot, and the green MULTI pot collect their respective colored coins. When a pot “bursts,” it triggers the Hold and Win bonus.

A quick word of warning for veteran players: The visual accumulation on these jars is purely cosmetic. A coin can land and move nothing at all; two did exactly that on my first spin. You can never tell how close you are to a trigger. A half-full pot could burst on the next spin, or fifty spins later.

Also, progress is persistent per stake. If you change your bet, you’ll be looking at empty jars, but your progress will be waiting for you if you switch back.

Inside the Bonus: Three Pots, Three Rules

When the bonus triggers, the game shifts to a standard 15-cell grid where only blanks, Jackpot coins, and Bonus coins land. The coins that triggered the feature carry their values over, but the rules of your bonus round depend entirely on which pot(s) burst to start it.

The dream scenario is having multiple pots burst on the same spin, as the modifiers stack:

  • Red (EXTRA): Increases your reset counter from the standard 3 respins to 4. (This is a lifesaver).
  • Blue (DOUBLE): Opens a second, completely independent 5×3 grid.
  • Green (MULTI): Places random multipliers on the board. If a coin lands on a multiplier cell, its value is multiplied. Empty multiplier cells can also randomly grow between spins.

The game features four fixed jackpots: Mini (15x), Minor (30x), Major (100x), and the Grand (1,000x), which is awarded for filling an entire 15-cell grid.

The Multiplier Chase & My Bonus

Because the base game tops out at 50x a line, the road to the game’s 2,997x maximum win runs entirely through the bonus, and through the MULTI pot in particular. Even if you unlocked the Double pot, filled both grids with 10x coins, and hit two Grand Jackpots, you’d only hit around 2,300x. To reach the max win, you must have the Green MULTI pot active to multiply those coins.

During my own session, I experienced exactly how crucial these modifiers are. After a dry spell of base game spins (peaking at a measly 3x win), a red and green coin landed and popped both the EXTRA and MULTI pots simultaneously.

I started the round with 4 respins and multiplier cells on the board. On my very first respin, a 5x coin landed squarely on a x5 cell, instantly turning into a 25x coin. Furthermore, having 4 respins instead of 3 saved my feature twice during dry stretches. I ended the round with 12 of 15 cells filled, walking away with a 49x win. That single multiplied coin accounted for more than half my total payout. It pushed my overall session into the green (a 58x return from 47x staked).

If you are a player who hates dead spins and wants constant base-game action, this isn’t for you. But if you are a feature-chaser who loves the tension of trying to trigger multiple bonus modifiers at once, Onlyplay has built a very capable, fair, and exciting machine here.
