Review: Fortune Chests Dice – A Frustrating Game of Smoke and Mirrors

Have you ever played a slot that feels like it’s actively trolling you? That’s Endorphina’s Fortune Chests Dice in a nutshell.

It’s a highly volatile 3×3 slot that strips everything down to the absolute bare minimum. With only five fixed paylines, partial hits just don’t exist here. You either line up three matching dice, or you get nothing – and trust me, “nothing” is what this game delivers 90% of the time.

The Base Game Grind

The paytable is mostly made up of standard dice that pay out peanuts (anywhere from 1x to 16x). The Wild Joker die is actually your best friend, paying out a solid 50x for a full line. But here’s the kicker: the Wild is completely removed from the bonus rounds. Expect to mindlessly spin 100 times just to walk away with a measly 5x return. The base game is a total grind.

The Fake Progress Bar (Yes, Really)

Let’s talk about my biggest gripe: the three colored chests sitting at the top of the screen. As you play, you’ll see token dice fly up and visually fill these green, red, and purple boxes with gold. It really makes you feel like you’re building toward something.

Spoiler alert: It’s a complete illusion.

If you read the rules, they flat-out admit the bonus triggers are entirely random. A chest that looks like it’s about to burst might do absolutely nothing, while a completely empty chest can suddenly pop open and trigger a feature. Because there are no scatter symbols to hunt for and no bonus-buy option, you’re just clicking “spin” and waiting for the math to take pity on you.

The Purple Chest: Rooting Against Yourself

When the purple chest finally does decide to open, it triggers a jackpot collecting game that forces you to root against yourself.

The board clears, and four new types of dice drop in: MIN, MID, MAX, and ULTRA (paying from 20x up to 500x). You need to collect five of a specific die to win that tier’s prize. The cool part? There’s no spin limit; the reels just keep spinning until one of the meters fills up.

The terrible part? The cheapest 20x tier is almost always going to win the race. It is agonizing to watch the 500x ULTRA meter get to 4-out-of-5, only for a cheap MIN die to drop, cross the finish line, and instantly kill the whole bonus. The game’s mechanics literally use the worst prize to sabotage your shot at the best one.

The Red Chest: The Bottleneck

The red chest gives you a hold-and-win feature, and it’s realistically your only shot at the game’s 1,500x max win. But it’s incredibly bottlenecked. The “collector” symbols only drop in the middle reel, while the prize dice (worth up to 500x) only drop on the outside. To get a massive payout, you need to perfectly stack collectors in the center to grab a high-value prize multiple times. It’s a cool idea, but getting it to line up is incredibly rare.

One Genuinely Great Feature: The Gamble

For a game that literally fakes its progress bars, the card gamble feature is shockingly honest. After a win, you can try to beat the dealer’s card to double your money. But unlike most slots, this game actually tells you your exact odds before you commit.

If the dealer is showing a 2, the game tells you that you have a massive 162% advantage. If the dealer has an Ace? It warns you that your chances just dropped to a brutal 42%. It’s incredibly refreshing to be able to make a gamble decision with the actual math right in front of you.

The Verdict

At the end of the day, Fortune Chests Dice is literally just a reskin of a fruit slot Endorphina released earlier in the year. They swapped the lemons for dice, kept the 96.08% RTP, and called it a day.

It’s a weird, contradictory game. You spend the base game watching a visual lie, just to finally reach a bonus round where the cheapest symbols actively hunt down and destroy your chances at a big win. Play it if you like the old-school dice aesthetic, but definitely bring your patience.
