Crazy Tooth Studio has always marched to the beat of its own drum, and their latest farmyard mystery, Lucky Clucks 4: A Murder Most Fowl, is no exception. If you’re used to traditional paylines and standard bonus rounds, this 5×4 slot is going to throw you for a loop.
I recently sat down to give this quirky, whodunit-themed slot a spin. While it brings some genuinely clever mechanics to the table, it also has a few quirks that players need to know about before chasing these chickens.
The Paytable: Don’t Panic, It’s All About Intersections
If you check the paytable before you spin, you might do a double-take. Every single-line win in this game pays less than your bet. For example, landing five of the top-tier Police Horse symbols across a line returns just 0.48x your stake. The goat and pig pay 0.40x, and the royals offer a measly 0.24x.
So, how do you actually make money? The secret is Crazy Tooth’s Any Adjacent Pays system.
Winning combinations don’t have to start on reel one, three matching symbols on reels 3, 4, and 5 pay exactly the same as they would on the left. More importantly, you aren’t looking for single lines; you are chasing intersections. Because symbols can count toward multiple paylines passing through the same cells, the math compounds quickly. Three horses might only be worth 0.16x, but if the game draws ten lines through that cluster, you’re suddenly looking at 1.60x.
During my session, about a quarter of my spins resulted in a win. My best base-game hit was a modest 4.12x, which happened when a wild landed right in the crosshairs of several sheep combinations. When the board connects, you see why the base values are so low.

The Prize Stream & Hot Frames
Fans of the Lucky Clucks series will notice the old BuildUP mechanic is gone. In its place is a strip of items above the reels called the Prize Stream, carrying Wilds, 2x Multipliers, Hen cash prizes, and a Wheel.
Down on the grid, you’ll spot Silver and Gold “Hot Frames.” When the feature randomly triggers, the game grabs whatever item is currently on the Prize Stream and drops it into every active Hot Frame.
- Silver Frames take the prize as-is.
- Gold Frames upgrade it (a standard wild becomes a 2x wild, a 2x becomes 3x, and cash prizes are doubled).

To be completely fair, this feature can be streaky. During my session, the Prize Stream kept teasing me as it rolled by, but the frames just refused to trigger. When it goes cold, it goes very cold.

The Jackpots vs. The Max Win (A Weird Design Choice)
Here is where Lucky Clucks 4 gets genuinely fascinating. If the Prize Stream drops a Wheel of Fate into a frame, it spins to award either more Gold frames or one of three progressive jackpots: a Mini (starts at 7x), a Major (100x), and a Grand (starts at 1,334x and caps at 2,333x).
The game’s absolute maximum win is 2,482x your bet. But the Mini, Major and Grand are not available in the Murder Most Fowl Bonus Spins.
That 2,482x is built up across a whole bonus session, while the biggest single prize, the Grand, can only come from a Wheel of Fate in the base game.
The Murder Most Fowl Bonus Spins
Land three Scatter case files, and you trigger the Bonus Spins (be warned: landing two scatters does nothing but tease you, which happened to me twice in a row).
The bonus completely flips the game’s mechanics. The jackpots, the wheel, and the upgrade symbols vanish. Instead, you get 3 spins and a set number of Bonus Hot Frames. Now, the Prize Stream only drops Wilds, 2x Wilds, or instant Hen prizes (1x to 1.6x) into the frames. Landing a Lightning symbol adds +1 spin.
To get anywhere near the 2,482x max win in the bonus, you need absolute chaos: you need your Hot Frames to multiply across the board, filling with 2x wilds that perfectly intersect with high-paying animal symbols.
However, if you love Crazy Tooth’s signature intersecting-line mechanics and enjoy slots where a single random base-game spin can theoretically drop the Grand, the biggest of its three jackpots, this poultry-themed mystery is absolutely worth investigating.
