So Close, But So Far Away

Pirots 3 has some pretty strict rules for how you actually win. You’ve got four birds dropping onto the grid, and they’ll only collect gems of their matching color if they are sitting directly next to them. Once a bird starts eating, it keeps going until the chain breaks.

Because of this setup, you can stare at a board absolutely packed with high-value gems, wilds, and features, and win nothing, all because your bird landed one row too far away. We had a brief lucky streak where four rounds paid back-to-back, but the reality of playing this game is that you’re mostly just staring at a lot of colorful visual noise while spinning dead drops.

The Upgrade Tease

When you start spinning, the gems are practically worthless. Baseline blue and green gems pay out pennies. You have to land upgrade symbols to level them up (eventually a maxed-out red gem pays 30x). But here’s the kicker: in the base game, all that progress resets every single spin.

You spend most of your time watching birds sweep up cheap gems while praying to fill the collection meter above the grid. You need 15 symbols just to get a feature to drop. The game doesn’t really get good until you hit the free spins, which is the only time your grid size, meter progress, and gem upgrades actually stick around between spins.

Buying the Bonus (And Losing My Shirt)

To get those free spins naturally, you need three golden skulls. But they don’t just have to land on the screen, the birds physically have to walk over and collect them.

We got impatient, messed around with the bonus buys (the X-iter menu), and ended our session down almost 500x. If you want to know how volatile the math is on this game, there’s your proof.

When you do get into the premium features, the payouts are totally all over the place. You don’t build up a nice, steady win from your upgraded gems. Instead, the money comes in sudden, random spikes. We had duel cards hand back under 1x, and another barely past 5x, and then a top-tier bonus suddenly threw out a couple of 50x steps. The game relies completely on these random jolts or catching a coin bag, rather than the actual gem-collecting mechanic.

Is the Max Win Even Worth the Grind?

The studio capped the max win at 10,000x. That feels a little stingy, especially since they just dropped Nitropolis 5 with a 50,000x cap, and competitor games like Le King offer a 20,000x top prize while paying out way more often.

Pirots 3 only hits on about 25% of its spins, and with a 94% RTP, the base game makes you work for it. Eventually, you realize the gems aren’t even the main event; they’re just a distraction. The real money is in the coin bags (which go up to 2,500x) or catching the specific coin that just pays out the max win instantly. You spend a lot of money trying to upgrade your board, but at the end of the day, it’s just a delivery system for a lucky coin catch.
