Pragmatic Play loves a scatter-pay grid slot, and so do we. Helios – Triple Sun takes the familiar 6×5 tumble mechanic that made games like Gates of Olympus famous and gives it a fresh Greek mythology wrapper. But in a genre this crowded, does Helios actually bring any heat?

After putting the game through its paces, the answer is yes, but you’re going to have to be patient to see it.

The Base Game: Prepare for a Grind

If you’ve played a modern scatter-pay slot, you know the drill: eight matching symbols anywhere in view triggers a win, they pop, and new symbols tumble in to replace them. There are no wilds here to bridge the gaps.

The paytable is incredibly top-heavy. Hitting a cluster of eight or nine low-tier gems pays absolute peanuts, and even bumping that up to ten barely moves the needle. You really need 12+ matching symbols to see a decent return. Because of this, the base game can be a brutal grind. My best base game hit was a chain of four tumbles that scraped together a measly 4.75x my bet. I also hit a dry stretch of about six dead spins in a row. Expect the base game to drain your balance while you wait for the modifiers to kick in.

Multipliers and the “Fake” Collection Pot

To turn those tiny base-game wins into something respectable, you need the multiplier suns, which can drop with values between 2x and 100x.

However, there is nothing quite as tilt-inducing as watching a multiplier sun drop onto a dead board where it does nothing and vanishes. I watched an 8x do exactly that.

Also, a quick warning for my fellow players: every sun that lands is collected in a meter above the reels, which can randomly trigger the free spins. Don’t be fooled: this is purely a visual tease. There is no set threshold to reach, so don’t chase a “full” pot thinking the bonus is about to pop. The game will trigger when it wants to.

The Free Spins and the Three Suns

The real draw is the 8-spin bonus round. Its potential depends entirely on which of the three colored suns triggered it. You can trigger one, two, or all three at once:

  • The Yellow Sun: Expands the grid by uncovering a masked top row, bumping the board from 30 to 34 cells. More space equals easier tumbles.
  • The Red Sun: Drops multiplier symbols that remain sticky for the duration of that spin’s tumbles.
  • The Blue Sun (The MVP): This is the engine of the game. It introduces a global multiplier that increases by +1x with every single tumble. Crucially, it never resets, meaning it sits patiently through dead spins and applies its full weight to your next win.

The Math: Additive, Not Multiplicative

If you manage to trigger both the Red and Blue suns, you need to understand how the math works. When a Red multiplier symbol and the Blue global multiplier land on the same winning spin, they add together, they don’t multiply each other.

So the sequence gets the sum of the two, never their product. While it’s a bit of a bummer if you were hoping for exponential, multiplicative growth, the persistent climbing of the Blue sun keeps the tension incredibly high. It separates Helios from standard games where multipliers reset between spins.

Helios – Triple Sun is capped at Pragmatic Play’s standard 5,000x max win. Getting anywhere near that cap requires the holy trinity of slot luck: you need the Yellow sun to open the board, the Blue sun to build a massive global multiplier, and the Red sun to drop a bomb on a tumble sequence that actually pays well on its own.
