If you remember Betsoft’s 2016 game Birds!, you’ll recognize the cartoon flock in this new release. But don’t expect a true sequel, they’ve completely ditched the old mechanics.

Instead, it’s a 6×5 “pays-anywhere” grid. If you’ve played Fortune Empire or Moon Rush, it’s the exact same layout. Those games cap your max win at 5,000x, but Betsoft cranked it up to 45,000x here. Sounds amazing, right? Well, don’t get too excited. You don’t hit that number by building up an insane bonus round; you only get it if you miraculously land four golden birdhouse scatters at the exact same time in the base game. It’s basically a lottery ticket.

The Base Game & The Bet Booster

The base game plays exactly like your standard tumbling reels slot. Land 8 matching symbols anywhere, they pop, and new ones drop in. (Scatters thankfully don’t get wiped out and fall down with the cascades). If you manage to get six birdhouse scatters on the board, it pays out 100x, which is the absolute max since you can only get one scatter per reel.

There’s a “Bet Booster” feature that costs 50% more per spin to double your chances of hitting free spins. I tried it out, but the base game can be incredibly frustrating. At one point, a sweet 6x multiplier nest dropped onto the grid, but because I didn’t have a winning combo on that exact spin, the game just threw it in the trash. Get used to that feeling. Most of your base game wins are like the 2.25x round I had, which barely covers the cost of hitting the spin button.

The Free Spins: A Brutal Tease

The free spins round is where this game really shows its teeth. You get 15 spins and a “fuse box” multiplier that builds up and never resets. Sounds awesome in theory, but the rules are incredibly strict.

First, a multiplier only adds to your fuse box if it lands on a winning spin. If a huge multiplier drops on a dead board, it vanishes. But here is the absolute worst part: if you get a win, but a new multiplier doesn’t land on that specific spin, the game totally ignores the multiplier you’ve built up in your fuse box and just pays you the standard, flat amount.

It is a harsh setup. I bought a 100x bonus, and by the eighth spin, I had built my fuse box up to a 17x multiplier. But because the game demands a fresh multiplier to actually use that saved-up total, my 17x just sat there doing nothing while I hit tiny cascade wins. I even tried a 500x Super Buy. On the very last spin, a 12x and a 15x nest dropped… but there was no winning combo. The game just discarded them and ended the round. Heartbreaking.

The Verdict

I took an absolute beating on this game. I put in over 600x my bet and walked away with just over 100x.

It has a standard 96% RTP, and the game publishes no volatility rating, which after a session like that one feels like an omission. The fuse box is a really cool idea, but demanding that you land a new multiplier just to unlock the multiplier you already earned makes the bonus round incredibly punishing. When the stars don’t perfectly align, you’re just forced to stare at a massive, useless multiplier on the wall while your bankroll drains.
