Built around a highly volatile 5×5 grid with 35 fixed paylines, this military-themed Hacksaw Gaming release ditches cascading wins and standard wilds, putting all its eggs into one explosive, symbol-transforming basket. The RTP is 96.33%.

I recently took this one for a spin.

SwitchSpins Make or Break You

The paytable is split between military gear (the Soldier tops out at 20x for a five-of-a-kind) and standard card ranks (which pay a measly 1x for a full line). Because there are no standard wilds in the base mix, you are entirely at the mercy of natural connections from the first reel.

The entire game revolves around the Ghost Vision symbol. When this lands, it triggers the SwitchSpins feature. The game randomly selects between one and ten paying symbol types, displays them above the reels, and triggers a respin where every instance of those symbols turns Wild. If you land another Ghost Vision symbol during the respin, it adds another symbol to the display, chaining the respins together.

Is it fair? Yes and no. The mechanic is incredibly cool, but because the wilds only replace symbols exactly where they sit, grid placement is everything. During my session, I triggered a SwitchSpins that lit up the 10s, turning four cells wild. The payout? A fat 0x, because the wilds were scattered on the right side of the board and didn’t connect to reel one. When it does line up, five wilds pay a respectable 30x. But be prepared for a base game that will often hand you tiny 1x to 1.5x wins to barely keep your balance afloat.

Two Tiers of Free Spins

Like many modern high-volatility slots, Ghost Vision locks its real potential behind the bonus rounds. There are two tiers here, both awarding 10 free spins:

  • Operation Black Rain (3 Scatters): This is your standard bonus. The game ramps up the frequency of the Ghost Vision symbols, making SwitchSpins much easier to trigger. However, the symbol display resets after every chain finishes. It’s decent, but it can definitely leave you hanging.
  • Project Iron Curtain (4 Scatters): This is the bigger bonus, and it fundamentally changes the game. Here, the selected symbol types are persistent. Every time a symbol is chosen for a SwitchSpins, it stays lit for the rest of the feature. By the end of the bonus, a single Ghost Vision symbol can trigger a respin with three, four, or five different symbol types already acting as wilds. The snowball effect here is real.

A Full Grid of Wilds

Hacksaw Gaming’s Rotten carries the same 10,000x cap on a 6×5 board. Ghost Vision’s way of paying it is the interesting part.

The game advertises a 10,000x max win, but it handles it in a really unique way. If you do the math, a full screen of wilds (35 lines x 30x) would normally only pay out 1,050x. To fix this, the developers made the 10,000x max win a flat award. If you manage to chain enough SwitchSpins together to turn every single cell on the 5×5 grid wild, the game bypasses the line math and just hands you the 10,000x top prize outright.

However, if you love high-risk, high-reward slots where a single spin can flood the board with wilds and instantly trigger a jackpot-style max win, this is a mission worth accepting.
